Vono-20 Tablet is a medicine used to heal, control, and relieve the symptoms of erosive esophagitis and heartburn in adults. It works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

This tablet belongs to the class of medications called stomach acid reducers. Vono-20 Tablet helps to reduce the production of acid in your stomach, which will help to treat your symptoms and to promote the healing process of the esophageal lining.

This tablet is also combined with clarithromycin and/or amoxicillin to eliminate Helicobacter pylori, a type of bacteria that causes ulcers (sores in the lining of the stomach or intestine).

It is important to note that this tablet should be used under the guidance and prescription of a doctor. They will determine the appropriate dosage and duration of treatment based on the individual's condition and response to therapy. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions are medications, inform your doctor immediately.

Vono-20 Tablet is used for the following conditions:

Heal all grades of erosive esophagitis and provide relief from associated heartburn in adults.
Provide relief from associated heartburn in adults.
It is combined with amoxicillin and clarithromycin to treat Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in adults.

Take this tablet with a glass of water.
You may take it with or without food, as directed by your doctor.
Do not crush or chew the tablet. Swallow it as a whole.
Complete the full course of treatment even if you start feeling better.

Vono-20 Tablet is taken orally.

The most common side effects of Vono-20 Tablet include:

Stomach inflammation
Diarrhoea
Bloating
Stomach pain
Nausea
Indigestion

Managing the Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolves on discontinuing this tablet. Take this tablet with food to reduce stomach discomfort. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Vono-20 Tablet contains the following components:

Vonoprazan (10 mg): Vono-20 Tablet belongs to the potassium-competitive acid blockers (PCAB) class of medications. It works by inhibiting the proton pump exchange in the stomach lining, which is responsible for producing stomach acid. By blocking this pump, Vonoprazan reduces the amount of acid produced, which helps to relieve symptoms of acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis.

Pregnancy

Vono-20 Tablet may be unsafe during pregnancy. Do not take this tablet during pregnancy until prescribed by a doctor.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding women should not take Vono-20 Tablet. It can pass into the nursing infant through breast milk. Before taking this tablet while breastfeeding, it is recommended to inform your doctor.

Alcohol

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Vono-20 Tablet, as it can reduce the effcetive of Vono-20 Tablet and delay the healing of ulcers.

Liver

For severe liver disorders, please discuss your medical history with the doctor before taking any steps. In patients with moderate or severe liver function impairment, the dosage may have to be adjusted. The adjustment might not be necessary for those with mild liver function impairment.

Kidney

Patients with mild to moderate kidney problems might not need dose adjustments. However, the dose should be reduced for patients with severe kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you have severe kidney problems.

Allergy

If you have a known allergy to vonoprazan, or any other ingredients of Vono-20 Tablet, inform your doctor before starting treatment.

Children

Vono-20 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age.

Older Patients

Older patients should take this tablet cautiously due to the increased risk of side effects. They might also take other medications that can interact with Vono-20 Tablet. Inform your doctor and discuss your prescription medications before taking this tablet.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Vono-20 Tablet can interact with the following medications:

Antiretrovirals such as rilpivirine, atazanavir, and nelfinavir: Vonoprazan reduces stomach acidity, potentially altering the absorption of these antiretroviral medications, which could affect their effectiveness and safety.
CYP3A Substrates such as verapamil or cyclosporine: Vonoprazan weakly inhibits CYP3A enzymes, which may increase the concentration of CYP3A4 substrates in the body, potentially leading to adverse reactions.
CYP2C19 Substrates such as clopidogrel, citalopram, and cilostazol: Vonoprazan inhibits CYP2C19 enzymes, which can alter the metabolism of these medicines, affecting their efficacy.
Strong or Moderate CYP3A4 Inducers such as phenytoin: Strong or moderate CYP3A inducers reduce Vonoprazan exposure, potentially reducing its effectiveness in treating conditions for which it is prescribed.
Other medications such as iron salts: Vonoprazan may reduce the absorption of iron, impacting its therapeutic benefits.
Cancer medications such as erlotinib, and dasatinib: Vonoprazan decreases stomach acidity, which may reduce the absorption of these medications, impacting their effect.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Vono-20 Tablet may interact with the following diseases:

Gastric Malignancy: Vonoprazan may mask symptoms of gastric malignancy (stomach cancer), delaying diagnosis and treatment.
Acute Tubulointerstitial Nephritis: Vonoprazan may increase the risk of acute tubulointerstitial nephritis, a kidney disorder, especially with prolonged use.
Clostridioides difficile-Associated Diarrhea (CDAD): Use of Vonoprazan may increase the risk of Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhoea, a potentially severe infection of the colon.
Bone Fracture, including Osteoporosis-related Fracture: Long-term use of Vonoprazan may increase the risk of bone fractures, including those related to osteoporosis, due to potential effects on calcium absorption and bone density.
Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) Deficiency: Vonoprazan can reduce the absorption of vitamin B12, leading to deficiency over time, especially in long-term users.
Hypomagnesemia and Mineral Metabolism: Prolonged use of Vonoprazan may lead to hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels) and affect mineral metabolism, which can have various health implications.
Fundic Gland Polyps: Vonoprazan use has been associated with an increased risk of fundic gland polyps, which are benign growths in the stomach.

Daily Dose

The recommended daily dose of Vono-20 Tablet is typically taken as prescribed by the doctor. Follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor. The dosage may vary depending on the severity of the condition and individual response to treatment. Do not alter the prescribed dosage without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

In case of accidental overdose, do not delay and seek immediate medical attention.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose of Vono-20 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed one. Always follow the instructions given by your doctor.

Protect it from light and moisture.
Keep Vono-20 Tablet away from children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

Avoid spicy, acidic, or fatty foods that can trigger acid reflux.
Maintain a healthy weight to reduce pressure on the stomach.
Avoid lying down immediately after eating; wait at least 2-3 hours before lying down or sleeping.
Elevate the head of your bed to prevent acid reflux during sleep.
Quit smoking, as smoking can worsen symptoms of acid reflux and decrease the effectiveness of this tablet.
Avoid taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) unless prescribed by your doctor, as they can worsen stomach irritation.
Limit caffeine and alcohol consumption as they can worsen stomach acid production.
