Oxetol XR 450 Tablet is used for:

• Managing partial seizures in adults

• Controlling partial seizures in children aged 6 years and older

• Serving as a primary therapy for managing partial seizures

Here are some guidelines on how to take Oxetol XR 450 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not chew, crush, or cut the tablet.

• The tablet is to be taken on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.

Oxetol XR 450 Tablet contains oxcarbazepine (450 mg), which works within your body as follows:

• Sodium Channel Blocker: Oxcarbazepine works by hindering voltage-sensitive sodium channels in your brain. Sodium channels are pathways for electric currents responsible for normal brain functions but can lead to seizures when overly activated. By blocking these channels, oxcarbazepine helps stabilise nerve cell activity.

• Inhibition of Neuronal Firing: The medicine also inhibits repetitive neuronal firing. This means it helps prevent nerve cells in the brain from firing off excessive electrical signals which could otherwise contribute to seizures.
