Orecure Ear Drops are used for managing:

• Acute otitis externa: This refers to a short-lived inflammation of the outer ear and ear canal.

• Chronic otitis externa: This is a long-standing condition in which the outer ear and ear canal are inflamed.

• Otitis media in patients with non-intact tympanic membranes: Otitis media is an infection of the middle ear, and this medicine is used when the eardrum is perforated or fitted with grommets.

Here's how you should instil Orecure Ear Drops properly:

• Always clean your hands before use.

• Warm up the drops by gently rubbing the bottle between your palms for a few minutes to prevent dizziness.

• Lie down or tilt your head so that the affected ear faces upward.

• Gently tug on the earlobe to straighten the ear canal. Remember to pull backwards and upward for adults.

• Instil the prescribed number of drops into your ear canal.

• Keep your head tilted for about 2 minutes to let the drops penetrate deeply into your ear.

• If advised by your doctor, repeat these steps for the other ear.

Orecure Ear Drops contain two active ingredients:

• Chloramphenicol (0.5%): This antibiotic hinders bacterial growth by disrupting protein synthesis—a necessary process for bacteria multiplication. It does this by attaching itself to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, preventing the creation of new peptide bonds that would elongate the peptide chain.

• Prednisolone (0.1%): This synthetic corticosteroid has strong anti-inflammatory properties. It works by inducing lipocortins—proteins that inhibit phospholipase A2—to control the creation of inflammation mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Prednisolone effectively reduces inflammation and associated symptoms by blocking the release of arachidonic acid.

• Store Orecure Ear Drops at room temperature between 20°C to 25°C.

• Protect the bottle from bright light and moisture.

• Always keep the container tightly closed when not in use.

• Keep Orecure Ear Drops out of reach from children.

• Maintain good ear hygiene to manage bacterial ear infections. Avoid inserting cotton swabs or other objects into your ears, as this can cause damage and create a breeding ground for bacteria.
