Odoxil Ds 500 MG Dry Syrup 30 ML

Odoxil DS Syrup is used for the following:

• Managing upper respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and otitis media.

• Dealing with lower respiratory tract infections like acute bronchitis and pneumonia.

• Addressing skin and soft tissue infections, including cellulitis, furunculosis, and impetigo.

• Assisting in urinary tract infection (UTI) management, encompassing cystitis and pyelonephritis.

• Helping with bone infections like osteomyelitis.

Give your child Odoxil DS Syrup by following these steps:

• Before use, reconstitute the dry powder by shaking the bottle gently to loosen it. Add about 15 ml of boiled and cooled water. Shake until all the powder is in suspension. Add more water to make up to 30 mL. Shake well again.

• Shake the reconstituted bottle well before each use.

• Use the provided measuring cup for accurate dosing.

• Give this medicine to your child, with or without food.

• This medicine is sugar-based and needs caution for use in diabetic patients. If you have diabetes, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

• Remember to discard the suspension after 14 days of reconstitution.

Odoxil DS Syrup is given orally to your child.

Odoxil DS Syrup contains cefadroxil (500 mg), which works on your child's body in the following ways:

• Bacterial cell wall synthesis inhibition: Cefadroxil operates by binding to and inactivating certain proteins (Penicillin-Binding Proteins, or PBPs) found on the inner membrane of bacterial cell walls. These PBPs play a vital role in the formation of peptidoglycan, a key component required for maintaining the structure of bacterial cell walls.

• Bacterial cell death: By inhibiting these PBPs, cefadroxil interferes with the processes of peptidoglycan synthesis and cross-linking. This weakens the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis, a process where the cell wall ruptures, causing death of the bacteria.

• Store the unopened bottle of Odoxil DS Syrup at a temperature not exceeding 30°C, away from light and moisture.

• Once opened and reconstituted, refrigerate and use within 14 days.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Check the expiry date before giving it to your child.

• Encourage your child to stay well-hydrated, especially if they have a urinary tract infection managed by Odoxil DS Syrup. Drinking plenty of fluids can help flush bacteria out of the urinary system.

• If your child has a respiratory infection, ensure they rest in an upright position. This can aid their breathing and help clear any congestion.
