Neukine 300 Injection 1ml

Neukine Injection is used for:

• Reducing infection risk in non-myeloid cancer patients receiving myelosuppressive anti-cancer medicines

• Shortening recovery time of neutrophils and fever duration in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) patients following induction or consolidation chemotherapy

• Decreasing neutropenia duration and related clinical complications in non-myeloid cancer patients undergoing myeloablative chemotherapy followed by bone marrow transplantation

• Mobilising autologous hematopoietic progenitor cells into the bloodstream for leukapheresis collection

• Alleviating complications from severe neutropenia in symptomatic patients with congenital, cyclic, or idiopathic neutropenia

• Enhancing survival chances in patients exposed to myelosuppressive radiation doses.

Administer Neukine Injection as follows:

• The injection should be administered by a healthcare professional.

• The medicine is given via subcutaneous injection, short intravenous infusion (15-30 minutes), or continuous intravenous infusion.

• The first dose should be given at least 24 hours after myelosuppressive chemotherapy.

• Continue daily administration until the expected neutrophil nadir has passed and the neutrophil count has recovered.

Neukine Injection is administered subcutaneously or intravenously.

Neukine Injection contains filgrastim (0.3 mg) which works on the body as follows:

• Stimulates Bone Marrow: Filgrastim encourages the bone marrow to increase the production of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell that plays a crucial role in fighting infections.

• Promotes Cell Proliferation and Differentiation: It stimulates the growth and differentiation of neutrophil progenitor cells in the bone marrow.

• Enhances Neutrophil Functions: Filgrastim improves various functions of neutrophils, such as their phagocytic ability (the process by which cells engulf harmful particles), priming of cellular metabolism associated with respiratory burst (a rapid release of reactive oxygen species from different types of cells), antibody-dependent killing (destruction of a pathogen by an antibody), and increases the expression of certain cell surface antigens.

• Mobilises Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells: Filgrastim helps in moving hematopoietic progenitor cells (cells that give rise to all the other blood cells) into the peripheral blood for collection by leukapheresis (a laboratory procedure in which white blood cells are separated from a sample of blood).

• Store Neukine Injection in a cool, dry place, ideally between 2°C and 8°C.

• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and excessive heat.

• Be sure to use Neukine Injection before its expiry date.

• If you're receiving chemotherapy, try to maintain a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. This will help keep your strength up and potentially lessen side effects.

• Engage in mild physical activities like walking or gentle yoga as permitted by your doctor. This can help manage fatigue often associated with cancer treatments and improve overall well-being.
