Moxitak Ointment 5 GM

Moxitak Ointment 5 GM helps manage the following health conditions:

• Bacterial conjunctivitis is an infection of the clear lining of your eyelids and the white part of your eyes

• Eye infections caused by Staphylococcus species such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis

• Eye infections triggered by Streptococcus species like Streptococcus pneumoniae and Streptococcus viridans group

• Eye problems due to Corynebacterium species and Micrococcus luteus

Here's how to use Moxitak Ointment 5 GM effectively:

• Make sure your hands are clean before applying the ointment.

• Avoid letting the tube tip touch any surfaces to prevent contamination.

• Apply a thin coating of the ointment to the affected eye(s), as advised by your doctor.

• If using other eye medicines, wait for at least five minutes between each application.

• Do not wear contact lenses during your treatment period.

• Always follow your doctor's directions, even if symptoms improve before finishing the course.

Moxitak Ointment 5 GM is applied topically.

Moxitak Ointment 5 GM contains moxifloxacin (0.5%), which works on your body in the following ways:

• Enzyme Inhibition: Moxifloxacin blocks the action of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes in bacterial cells. These enzymes play a vital role in bacterial DNA's replication, transcription, repair, and recombination processes.

• Disrupts bacterial DNA synthesis: By blocking these key enzymes' activity, Moxifloxacin effectively interferes with bacterial DNA synthesis, resulting in the death of bacterial cells.

• Store Moxitak Ointment 5 GM at room temperature, ideally between 15°C to 25°C.

• Keep the ointment tube tightly closed when not in use to prevent any contamination.

• Avoid exposure to excessive heat, light, or moisture.

• Always keep this medication out of reach of children to ensure their safety.

• Ensure you use the ointment before its expiry date printed on the label.

• Maintain good personal hygiene: Regularly wash your hands and face, particularly before applying Moxitak Ointment 5 GM. This can help minimise the risk of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by common pathogens.

• Avoid touching your eyes: This is crucial as it can prevent bacteria from entering your eyes and causing infections. If you must touch your eye, for example, to apply Moxitak Ointment 5 GM, ensure your hands are clean.
