Moxclav DS Distab 457 mg Tablet is used for the following conditions:

• Managing ear, nose, and throat infections

• Handling respiratory tract infections

• Coping with genitourinary tract infections

• Dealing with skin and soft tissue infections

• Addressing dental infections

• Handling bone and joint infections

Moxclav DS Distab 457 mg Tablet is taken orally.

Moxclav DS Distab 457 mg Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Amoxicillin (400 mg): This is a semisynthetic aminopenicillin that works by disrupting the construction of bacterial cell walls. It attaches itself to proteins found on the inner membrane of bacterial cell walls and interferes with their operation. This inhibits the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains that are necessary for maintaining the strength and rigidity of bacterial cell walls, causing them to weaken and break apart.

• Clavulanic Acid (57 mg): This is a beta-lactam compound that is structurally similar to penicillins but has a different function. It is an inhibitor of many beta-lactamase enzymes commonly found in microorganisms resistant to penicillin. The presence of clavulanic acid helps protect amoxicillin from being broken down by these enzymes, effectively extending the antibiotic spectrum of amoxicillin to many bacteria that would normally be resistant to it.
