Composition

Cyclophosphamide (50 Mg)

Endoxan Tablet is classified as an alkylating agent. It is prescribed for treating malignant diseases, including lymphoma, leukaemia, and cancers affecting nerve tissue, eyes, ovaries, soft tissue, bones, and breasts.

This tablet is also prescribed for treating nephrotic syndrome in children who do not respond well to adrenocorticosteroid therapy or cannot tolerate it.

Before taking this tablet, you must inform your doctor if you have a history of allergic or anaphylactic reactions to other alkylating agents. You should also inform your doctor if you have conditions like bone marrow suppression or failure, neutropenic fever, or a history of severe infections like pneumonia, bacterial, fungal, viral, protozoal, or parasitic infections.

The uses of the Endoxan Tablet are:

Management of cancer
Treatment of nephrotic syndrome

Swallow the entire tablet without crushing or breaking it.
Take it with or without food, but it is recommended at a fixed daily time for better results.

Endoxan Tablet is taken orally.

The common side effects of Endoxan Tablet include

Nausea and vomiting
Loss of hair
Fever
Abdominal pain
Low white blood cell count

Managing the Side Effects:

Most of the side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing Endoxan Tablet. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Endoxan Tablet contains the following component:

Cyclophosphamide (50 mg): It is an alkylating agent that, after ingestion, metabolises in the liver and releases an active form that damages the DNA in rapidly dividing cells, particularly cancer cells. DNA damage disrupts the cell's ability to divide and replicate, leading to the death of cancer cells. Cyclophosphamide can also suppress the immune system, which is beneficial in diseases where the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues, such as in certain autoimmune conditions. In addition to its anticancer effects, cyclophosphamide has anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful in conditions like nephrotic syndrome.

Pregnancy

Endoxan Tablet is generally not advised for use during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor before considering this medication if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Breastfeeding

Before taking Endoxan Tablet, consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as it is not advisable for use in lactating women.

Alcohol

Liver

Protease inhibitors such as doxorubicin and etoposide can cause increased concentration of this tablet.
ACE inhibitors such as natalizumab, paclitaxel, thiazide diuretics, and zidovudine can cause Increased hematotoxicity or immunosuppression when taken with this tablet.
Anthracyclines, cytarabine, pentostatin, radiation therapy of the cardiac region, and trastuzumab can cause increased cardiotoxicity when taken with this tablet.
Antiarrhythmic such as amiodarone can cause increased pulmonary toxicity when taken with this medication.
Antifungals such as amphotericin B and indomethacin can cause increased nephrotoxicity when taken with this medicine.

Endoxan Tablet can interact with conditions/diseases, including

Myelosuppression (decreased activity of bone marrow): This tablet can aggravate the condition.
Urinary tract obstruction: This medicine can worsen the condition.
Lung problems: This tablet can cause complications in lung issues.
Liver problems: This tablet can worsen liver problems.
Kidney problems: This tablet can aggravate the kidney problems.

Daily Dose

The daily dose of Endoxan Tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the age, severity of the condition and response to treatment.

Over Dose

In case of an accidental overdose of Endoxan Tablet, seek immediate medical attention by contacting your doctor or visiting the nearest hospital. Signs of an overdose may include myelosuppression, bone marrow failure, and severe immunosuppression, leading to sepsis and septic shock. Latent infections like viral hepatitis and tuberculosis can reappear, causing urotoxicity symptoms such as hemorrhagic cystitis, pyelitis, urethritis, and haematuria.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Endoxan Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, avoid repeating the dose.

Endoxan Tablet should be stored at room temperature, at 25°C.
Please protect it from light and moisture.
Keep away from children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

Maintain a balanced diet and exercise to keep your weight in check.
Avoid smoking and limit alcohol intake.
Include nutritious foods like leafy greens, citrus fruits, fatty fish, berries, yoghurt, apples, peaches, and vegetables.
Steer clear of fast food, fried items, processed meats, refined carbohydrates, and excess sugar.
Prioritise getting enough quality sleep to rest well.
Protect skin from the sun's harmful rays by avoiding tanning beds and wearing protective clothing, sunscreen, and sunglasses outdoors.
