Atorva 80 Tablet is used for the following:

• Lowering high levels of cholesterol in the blood (hypercholesterolemia)

• Reducing excessive triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia)

• Managing mixed dyslipidemia, characterised by elevated bad cholesterol and triglycerides

• Controlling a genetic condition causing high cholesterol known as homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia

• Preventing heart attack, stroke and other heart diseases in people with risk factors like diabetes, hypertension, smoking or a family history of heart disease early in life

• Slowing down the progression of atherosclerosis, which is the hardening of the arteries.

Atorva 80 Tablet contains atorvastatin (80 mg), which works on your body as follows:

• Inhibits HMG-CoA reductase: Atorvastatin acts by blocking an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase in your body. This enzyme is important in producing cholesterol inside your body.

• Reduces blood cholesterol: By inhibiting the activity of HMG-CoA reductase, atorvastatin effectively reduces cholesterol levels in your blood.

• Enhances LDL breakdown: Atorvastatin boosts the number of LDL receptors on liver cells, which increases the breakdown of LDL.

• Manages triglyceride synthesis: Atorvastatin also controls the creation of triglycerides and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), improving the balance of lipids in your body.
