• Enalapril + Hydrochlorothiazide can interact with diuretics (such as furosemide and spironolactone), potassium supplements (like potassium chloride), mood stabilisers (such as lithium), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (like ibuprofen and naproxen), insulin or diabetes medications (such as metformin), steroids (like prednisone) and narcotics (like codeine).

Overdose and missed dose

• An overdose of Enalapril + Hydrochlorothiazide can cause severe dizziness, fainting, or kidney failure. If an overdose is suspected, seek immediate medical attention.

• If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double up on doses.

Management of side effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help manage side effects such as dizziness and headache.

• Eating small, frequent meals can help manage nausea and diarrhoea.

• Rest and avoid strenuous activities if you feel fatigued.

Use in driving and operating machinery

• This medication may cause dizziness or fatigue. If you experience these side effects, refrain from driving or operating machinery until you are sure you can perform these activities safely.

Use in pregnancy and lactation

• Enalapril + Hydrochlorothiazide is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It is advised to consult your doctor for advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding.

Caution in other conditions

• Patients with kidney or liver disease should exercise caution when taking Enalapril + Hydrochlorothiazide. Regular monitoring of kidney and liver function may be required.

• Patients with electrolyte imbalances should also exercise caution, as this combination can affect potassium levels in the blood.

• Maintain a low-sodium diet as high sodium levels can increase blood pressure and counteract the benefits of the medication.

• Regular physical activity can help in managing high blood pressure.
