Dosage Forms Available

• Hydrochlorothiazide + Ramipril is available for use via the oral route in the form of tablets.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medicine is primarily meant for adults. It may also be prescribed for adolescents aged 16 years and above under the close supervision of a doctor.

Contraindications

• Hydrochlorothiazide + Ramipril is contraindicated in patients with known allergies to either Hydrochlorothiazide or Ramipril. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema (swelling in the deeper layers of the skin) related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy, as well as in patients with anuria (a condition that occurs when someone produces little to no urine) or renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the one or both of renal arteries).

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with diuretics (e.g, furosemide, spironolactone), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen), antihypertensives (e.g., losartan, valsartan) and potassium-supplementing medicines (e.g., spironolactone, triamterene).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Hydrochlorothiazide + Ramipril may result in severe hypotension (low blood pressure) and kidney failure. If you suspect an overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
• If you forget to take your dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drink plenty of fluids to counteract dizziness and prevent dehydration.
• Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions to avoid lightheadedness.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Hydrochlorothiazide + Ramipril may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, which could affect your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery. If you experience these side effects, avoid such activities until you feel better.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Hydrochlorothiazide + Ramipril is not recommended for use during pregnancy, especially in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Breastfeeding women should use this medication with caution and only under a doctor's supervision.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with kidney disease, liver disease, or diabetes should exercise caution when taking Hydrochlorothiazide + Ramipril. This medication may worsen gout or increase blood glucose levels, so it should be used with caution in patients with these conditions.
