• Aluminium Hydroxide + Dimethicone + Magnesium is available for use via the oral route in two formulations, namely chewable tablets and liquid suspensions.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This combination is meant for adults and children over 12 years of age.

Contraindications

• Aluminium Hydroxide + Dimethicone + Magnesium is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney disease.

• It should not be used by people with known allergies to any of the ingredients.

• It is also contraindicated in patients with appendicitis, inflamed bowel conditions like ulcerative colitis, severe abdominal pain or rectal bleeding.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Aluminium Hydroxide + Dimethicone + Magnesium can interact with antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin), thyroid hormones (like levothyroxine), antiretroviral medicines (like atazanavir and indinavir), antifungals (like itraconazole and ketoconazole), osteoporosis medicines (like alendronate), antipsychotics (like phenothiazines and quetiapine) and anticonvulsants (like gabapentin and phenytoin).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of Aluminium Hydroxide + Dimethicone + Magnesium may cause constipation, diarrhoea or stomach cramps. If you observe these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately.

• If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is near the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drinking plenty of water can help manage constipation caused by this medicine.

• If you experience a chalky taste after consuming the medicine, try taking it with a meal or a snack.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• This medicine should not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you feel dizzy or unwell after taking this medicine, avoid such activities until you feel better.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It is advised to consult a doctor before using Aluminium Hydroxide + Dimethicone + Magnesium during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• This medicine should be used with caution in patients on a magnesium-restricted diet.

• Patients with peptic ulcer disease should consult their doctor before using this combination.
