Monocef O 200 Tablet is used for managing the following health conditions:

• Ear infections: Monocef O 200 Tablet is taken for infections in the ears, which can cause pain and discomfort.

• Skin infections: It helps in conditions such as impetigo or cellulitis, which can cause redness, swelling, and itching.
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs): It is effective in managing UTIs, which occur when bacteria enter the urinary system and cause symptoms like frequent urination and burning.
• Respiratory tract infections: This medicine helps manage infections like pneumonia or bronchitis, which can lead to coughing, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.
• Gastrointestinal tract infections: Monocef O 200 Tablet can be used against bacterial infections that cause issues like diarrhoea or abdominal pain.
• Pneumonia: A lung infection that causes fever, coughing, and difficulty breathing.
• Gonococcal infection: A sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria.
• Sinusitis: Inflammation of the sinuses, leading to facial pain and congestion.
• Bronchitis: Infection of the airways, causing coughing and difficulty breathing.

• Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water after your meal to avoid stomach discomfort.
• Do not cut, break or chew the medicine.

Monocef O 200 mg tablet contains cefpodoxime proxetil as its active ingredient, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. The pharmacological mechanism of action of cefpodoxime proxetil involves inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, ultimately leading to bacterial death.

Cefpodoxime proxetil has a broad spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus aureus. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, achieving therapeutic concentrations in the blood within one to two hours after ingestion.

• Store Monocef O 200 mg tablet at room temperature (15-25ºC).
• Please protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Monocef O 200 mg tablet away from children.
• Do not use Monocef O 200 mg tablet after the expiry date has passed.

• Consume foods high in fibre, such as whole grains, legumes, berries, broccoli, peas, and bananas.
• Antibiotics may disrupt the beneficial bacteria in the stomach that aid digestion. As a result, probiotic-rich foods such as yoghurt/curd and buttermilk are recommended.
• Refrain from drinking alcohol and using tobacco.
• Avoid caffeine: Limit the consumption of caffeine-containing drinks like coffee, tea, and energy drinks. Caffeine can increase the risk of side effects like nervousness, restlessness, and irregular heartbeat.
• Follow a healthy diet: Eat a balanced and healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals to boost your immune system. Avoid foods high in fats, sugar, and salt.

• Taking Monocef O 200 mg tablet with food or immediately after a meal is recommended. This helps in better absorption of the medication and reduces the chances of gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach pain.
• If you experience a rash, itchy skin, facial or oral swelling, or breathing difficulties, stop taking Monocef O 200 mg Tablet and call your doctor immediately.
