Lactomed Solution is used for managing the following conditions:

• Constipation: This condition is characterised by difficulty or infrequency in passing stools.

• Hepatic Encephalopathy: This is a serious liver disease that affects the brain, causing symptoms such as confusion and poor concentration.

Take Lactomed Solution as follows:

• Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure the components are evenly mixed.

• Measure the required amount of this medicine using a medicine cup or spoon.

• Lactomed Solution can be taken with or without food, according to your preference or doctor's advice.

• It can be taken at bedtime or divided into smaller doses throughout the day, as directed by your doctor.

• Remember, it may take between 24 to 48 hours for this medication to produce a bowel movement.

Lactomed Solution contains lactulose (10 gm), which exerts its effects through the following mechanisms:

• Blood Ammonia Reduction: For hepatic encephalopathy, lactulose facilitates the diffusion of ammonia from the blood into the colon by acidifying colonic contents. The trapped ammonia is then expelled into the faeces.
