Dosage Forms Available

• Lactobacillus + Ofloxacin + Ornidazole is available for use via the oral route in the form of tablets.

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medication is geared towards use in adults and in children under medical supervision.

Contraindications

• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to quinolones or nitroimidazoles.
• It is also contraindicated in patients with myasthenia gravis, tendon disorders, prolonged QTc interval or uncorrected hypokalemia, and certain central nervous system disorders like epilepsy.

Other Medications to Avoid

• This combination may interact with certain medicine classes. Antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, tetracycline) can reduce the effectiveness of Lactobacillus by disrupting gut flora. Concurrent use of Ofloxacin with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen) may increase the risk of central nervous system stimulation and seizures. Additionally, Ornidazole may enhance the effects of anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), increasing the risk of bleeding.

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose of this medication may result in severe vomiting, tremors, or even convulsions. If you suspect an overdose, contact your doctor immediately.
• If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose. Never double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• Drink plenty of fluids to manage nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or abdominal pain.
• Rest and avoid engaging in mentally strenuous activities to manage symptoms like headache or dizziness.
• Over-the-counter creams and lotions can help manage rashes or pruritus.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• It is advised to avoid driving or operating machinery when on this medication, as it may cause dizziness and affect your ability to concentrate.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• It is advised to consult your doctor before using this medicine during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The risks and benefits should be discussed thoroughly.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with hepatic or renal impairment should exercise caution when taking this medicine. Dose adjustment may be necessary based on the severity of the condition.
• Patients with a history of tendon disorders or seizures should also exercise caution due to the potential side effects of this medication.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• It is recommended to maintain a balanced and nutritious diet to support overall health while fighting an infection.
• Hydration is critical, especially if experiencing diarrhoea or vomiting. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day.
• Adequate rest is vital during any infection treatment. Make sure to get plenty of sleep daily.
• Avoid close contact with others if you have been diagnosed with a contagious gastrointestinal or respiratory infection, to prevent its spread.
