Contraindications

• This medicine can interact with diuretics (such as hydrochlorothiazide and furosemide), NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen and naproxen) and potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics (such as spironolactone and amiloride).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• An overdose may result in severe hypotension, shock, and renal failure. If an overdose occurs, immediate medical attention is required.

• If you miss a dose of Quinapril, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as scheduled. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• For a dry cough, drinking plenty of water might help to soothe your throat.

• If you experience dizziness or light-headedness, sitting or lying down until the symptoms pass can be helpful.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• Quinapril may cause dizziness or fatigue, especially at the beginning of the treatment. If you experience these side effects, it would be advisable to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• This medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. It should also not be taken while breastfeeding, as it passes into breast milk and may affect the baby.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with kidney disease, liver disease, or heart problems should use Quinapril with caution as it can affect these conditions.

• Also, individuals with low blood pressure or who have had a recent heart attack should be cautious while taking Quinapril.

Special Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations

• Maintain a diet low in salt and saturated fat to help manage high blood pressure and heart failure.

• Regularly monitor your blood pressure at home.

• Avoid becoming dehydrated as it can lead to low blood pressure.
