Uses of Eptifibatide

How Eptifibatide works

Contraindications
Eptifibatide is contraindicated in patients with active internal bleeding or a history of bleeding diathesis within the previous 30 days.
It should not be used in patients who have had a stroke within 30 days or any history of haemorrhagic stroke.
It is also contraindicated in patients with severe uncontrolled hypertension, recent major surgery or severe trauma, renal dialysis dependence, and hypersensitivity to Eptifibatide or its components.
Other Medications to Avoid
Eptifibatide can interact with other antiplatelet agents (e.g., clopidogrel, ticlopidine), anticoagulants (e.g., heparin, warfarin), and thrombolytics (e.g., alteplase and reteplase).
Overdose and Missed Dose
An overdose of Eptifibatide may result in bleeding complications. If you suspect an overdose, stop the infusion immediately and monitor closely for signs of haemorrhage.
If a dose is missed, it should be administered as soon as possible. However, if it is close to the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not administer extra doses to make up for a missed one.
