Uses of Apixaban

  • The primary use of Apixaban is to manage and prevent blood clots. It is an anticoagulant medication, being part of the class of medicines known as factor Xa inhibitors.

  • It is used to decrease the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. It is also indicated for managing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) and reducing the recurrence risk of these conditions after initial treatment. Furthermore, it is used to prevent DVT and PE in patients who have undergone hip or knee replacement surgery.
